Book Review: This is a charming picture book for young children about a lost puppy and how lost animals can find a forever home. The author does a great job in weaving a story about the lost puppy and the positive outcome that develops with Mr. Pupples finding a forever home. Sir Buddy shares his difficulty in finding a forever home when he was a puppy and how good it felt to find his forever owner. Mr. Pupples learns a great lesson. The illustrations enhance the story keeping the reader engaged on every page. It is written with the animals doing the speaking and the adult taking a back seat, which is just how young readers relate to a good story.
The author has a passion for animals and wants the reader to empathize with a lost pet and hopefully open the discussion about responsible pet ownership with parents and teachers. He weaves a true to life story about what goes on with a lost puppy letting the reader in on how it might feel to be lost or unwanted. Mr. McEwan does a great job getting to the heart of the matter for kids so this will soon be a favorite book in a young readers collection of " read it again" stories.
