Read a Paragraph from Cheryl Malandrinos- Children's Author

If you have been following the tour for children's author Cheryl Malandrinos, then you know what a talented and exceptional author she is. Here is an excerpt from her new book The Little Shepherd Boy.

Off in the distance, a wolf howled. Obed moved closer to his flock, scanning the hills for any sign of a pack that might race in and steal his sheep. His family depended upon the sheep for food and their wool for clothing. No sheep would be lost under his watch.

He shivered inside his cloak. While the days were getting warmer, the nights still chilled him. He walked over to the large fire blazing inside the pit. He rubbed his hands together and held them up to the fire to warm them.

Above him, the sky twinkled with millions of stars. Obed couldn’t remember a night so clear.

Suddenly, a bright light filled the sky.

Obed trembled. “Father, what is happening?”

His father dropped to the ground, his right hand blocking his eyes from the intense light.

Obed pulled the edges of his cloak closer to his face as he squinted up at the mysterious form hovering overhead. He shivered, but this time it was not because of the cold.

  2. Cheryl --Thanks for sharing these links on FB. Helps me follow your tour!

Glad to know about this blog! I have some ideas that I'd love to write as YA - but have never really ventured there before. I've read that genre for paranormals, but writing it seems a little daunting. Cannot wait to explore and see what advice you have to offer.

    Thanks!

  5. Angela, how wonderful to see you here. You need to write what's in your heart. Don't try to tackle it all at once; just a chapter at a time--maybe even a paragraph at a time. Self-doubt stifles creativity. We need to believe in ourselves.

Thanks for your kind words Dorothy and Virginia. I don't know how amazing I am, but I feel very blessed that I have been able to bring Obed's story to kids. God is good!

  8. Great having Cheryl here today. She has been an inspiration to me as I set new goals for my writing in 2011. For me, worrying less about what will make the money and more about what the message is that God is placing on my heart is going to fuel my goals for 2011. Thanks for the inspiration.
